The minds behind the Swiss Army knife, the 2-in-1 shampoo and the PDA had the same relative idea—combine and conquer. The developers at Stone Edge Technologies are following suit with Order Manager, a software product that helps distributors and e-commerce companies combine all the elements of daily operations in one simple system. The software helps manage order taking, payment processing, inventory and more. It can combines orders from multiple sources with shared inventory and customer lists. It’s also compatible with more than 40 different shopping carts and other e-commerce sites, such as Amazon. Order Manager seems to be a popular choice on the Web, particularly because it offers many of the same features as similar products, but at a much cheaper rate. Premium versions of the software are available and provide additional functionality.
Order Manager is pretty versatile in its ability to process orders. Single and multiple batches can be handled easily. The system can “remember” when a customer buys something and save their information for future orders. New orders can be made with the touch of a butto and approval rules can be applied to the order too. These permissions give authorized employees the ability to approve or cancel orders, change shipping methods or change addresses if needed. Payment issues, shipping methods and other information can also be changed. The Order Manager is compatible with popular payment gateways and you can configure the system to work with your existing accounts. Credits, refunds and future charges can be carried out for the same customer without having to create a new account.
The Plus version of Order Manager includes everything the base model offers, plus a point-of-sale system for merchants with retail stores. It supports barcode scanners, credit card readers, cash drawers and other POS technologies. We noticed that this feature was being offered at a premium while other, similar products include the feature in their base models. If you want to go big, Stone Edge offers an Enterprise version that offers tools such as pick list printing, support for off-site selling tools for warehouse management. Stone Edge says it plans on adding additional features to the Enterprise edition in the not-too-distant future.
